What does a chiropractor do?
Chiropractors provide advice on methods to restore your inborn ability to be healthy. The chiropractic approach to better health is to locate and help reduce interference to your natural state of health.
The “hands-on” component of chiropractic care aims to improve the biomechanics of human movement, restoring proper nervous system function primarily through chiropractic ‘adjustments’ that restore the joint and disc mechanics of the spine, pelvis and extremities.
Chiropractors also look to restore the ‘tone’ of the body and nervous system with work on muscle ‘trigger points’, where the nerve enters the muscle. Other common manual therapies, including stretching and massage, can also be applied where indicated.
As registered Australian health professionals, chiropractors must meet extensive educational requirements, including five years’ university training. Australian chiropractors are also strictly government regulated.
